Last month, I was privileged to give a presentation on Lyme called "Unrecognised: The Reality of Living with Lyme in Australia" at the Geelong Disability Expo. I discussed how I survived my harrowing journey with Lyme Disease; from happy and healthy International Business graduate, to bedridden and dismissed, to empowered and successful businesswoman.

"I began to feel tingling down my arms, around my mouth and I had slurred speech. I was convinced I was having a stroke."

At my prime, age 21, I fell ill, completely unaware of the challenges my diagnosis would entail in accessing treatment and gaining recognition from the Australian medical community. My physicians were hindered by AHPRA's crackdown on Lyme-literate practitioners, compelling me to undergo treatment at numerous overseas clinics on multiple occasions. This personal ordeal has fuelled my unwavering commitment to advocacy and entrepreneurship, as evidenced by this venture, Against The Grain Coffee with my co-founder Anja Christoffersen. Through this platform, we strive to elevate awareness for chronic invisible illnesses and disability.
